29% of Houzeo Home Searches Happen Between Midnight and 6 am, Houzeo's 2026 Buyer Report Reveals

New Houzeo data study reveals late-night home searches, growing interest in alternative housing types, and how buyers organize their home search journey.

NEW YORK CITY, NY, UNITED STATES, September 11, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Nearly three in ten home search actions on Houzeo occur between midnight and 6 am, and 57% of all activity happens after 6pm, according to the platform's newly released 2026 Home Buyer Report. The pattern appeared consistently across both saved searches and favorites data, making it one of the clearest behavioral findings in the study.

In the report, 1,537 anonymized buyer actions from the Houzeo platform were analyzed: 881 saved property searches and 656 favorites collections, from more than 900 unique users between January and September 2026 across 51 U.S. states and territories.. The time-of-day distribution challenges assumptions about when digital home shoppers are most active:
- Evening (6pm–12am): 30.5%
- Night (12am–6am): 28.7%
- Morning (6am–12pm): 18.6%
- Afternoon (12pm–6pm): 22.2%

The finding runs counter to data from larger portals. A published Redfin analysis found peak search traffic at 10 a.m. on Fridays, with users most active during business hours. The divergence likely reflects different buyer demographics across platforms.

Beyond timing, the report reveals how buyers organize their digital home search:
- 55% of all favorites collections contain exactly one property. These often represent a "this is the one" bookmark rather than a broad browsing folder. Only 7.3% contain 20+ properties.
- 74% of collections are custom-named, revealing two distinct buyer archetypes: emotionally driven search behaviour (folders named "manifesting," "wishful thinking," "my forever home," "new beginnings") and analytical investors (folders named "fix and flip," "sold comps," "wholesale real estate," "prospective flip").
- One Bay Area buyer created 17 separate city-named collections across the San Francisco Peninsula and East Bay, demonstrating a systematic, neighborhood-by-neighborhood comparison strategy. Another user built 9 collections across 9 different states.
- 92% of searches included pending listings alongside active inventory. This suggests that many Houzeo buyers include homes already under contract as part of their search process, whether for backup opportunities or market comparison.

“A home search is no longer a straight line from browsing to buying. Our research shows buyers are exploring multiple property types, monitoring homes already under contract, and creating highly personalized search journeys before they ever contact an agent. Nearly three in 10 buyer actions happened between midnight and 6 a.m., showing the modern home search does not run on a traditional schedule. The buyer journey is happening around real life... and sometimes that means after everyone else has gone to sleep” said Jai Chavan, the report's author.

The study also found that the traditional home-buying season is extending. Search volume doubled from February to March, following the classic spring ramp-up. But, combined activity held between 156 and 240 data points per month through August, without the traditional summer decline observed in many housing cycles. August favorites activity (142 collections) was the highest monthly total in the entire dataset. With more than 1.7 million active listings nationwide, Houzeo aims to enhance the homebuying experience. Through its digital marketplace, Houzeo enables buyers to browse homes for sale, save favorites, schedule tours, and submit offers while managing more of their home search journey online.
